Winter in Nizhny Novgorod

Finally cold weather has come to our region bringing more or less clear sky. Yandex forecasts partly cloudly for the end of the week, which means it’s time to dust off the photo backpack, find warm pants and sweater in the deeps of a wardrobe, and following the ski season open the season photographic. If all goes well, the shots won’t disappoint me. At least I will do my best for that. Landscapes and scenery photo. The spirit of summer

I always thought of beginning of June as a special time: the hills are covered with young green grass, there are wild flowers everywhere, the sun warms the air, but at the same time cool breeze and frequent storms prevent the heat from settling in. And for a landscape photographer it is a time to pursuit every single sunrise and sunset, because it gives you a great opportunity to make exciting photographs that particularly well convey the spirit of summer, when everything in nature is blossoming and basking in soft and warm sunlight.

The Kremlin, the stairs and the city

Photography is a wonderfull thing, it gives you an opportunity to search and to find, and therefore, to be amazed with things you are used to. Imagine, you wander from one quite accustomed place to another, and the first moment it appears there is no way it may surprise you, but when you take the camera and look into the viewfinder, it all changes – the frame cuts everything else, leaving only several elements, which inexplicably assemble into something very fine and accurate, and in the same time very fragile – if you step back even a small distance it won’t be the same.

A view of Molitovsky bridge

Every time I return to my native city – Nizhny Novgorod, I couldn’t help wondering what an amazing and beautiful place it is located in. The high hills give one the possibility to observe distant spaces, to watch the sun dissapears below the horizon and the lights of dwelling houses on the far bank of the river flickr in the twilight and the traces of car headlights form smooth lines on the downhills. I think all that makes our city special, not like others. And that is why I am always pleased when I get another neat shot of my city, because it not only gives me a satisfaction of a work well done, but also a possibility of showing the beauty of Nizhny Novgorod to other people, incuding those who haven’t been here at all.
